Kagaribi no　kage no kudakuru　kokochi shi te　ukawa no sue ni
tobu hotaru kana.
Bonfire light　sparking about it seems...　on the lower reaches　of a cormorant fishing
river-flying fireflies...

つまごとの 律のしらべに かよひきて こゑおもしろき 軒の松風
Tsuma goto no richi no shirabe ni kayoi ki te koe omoshiroki
noki no matsukaze
Reaching for the right notes lovely sounds from a zither weave into
the pine wind along my eaves.

いちじるき 神のみいつの 雄徳山 しらべも高き みねの松かぜ
Ichijiruki kami no miitsu no Otokoyama shirabe mo takaki
mine no matsukaze.
How clearly the power of the gods　resounds on Mount Otoko whistling
down on the high pine wind.

吉水の かねひびく也 いざ我も かすみにこけの きぬくらべせん
Yoshimizu no kane hibiku nari iza ware mo kasumi ni
koke no kinukurabe se n.
At Yoshimizu the evening bell rings... now I shall vie with
the mist in my robe of moss.

つゆならで 月のやどりも なかりけり 蓮にうつる 庭の池水
Tsuyu nara de tsuki no yadori mo nakari keri hachisu
ni utsuru niwa no ikemizu.
