    This is a pair of antique Japanese wooden lacquered clappers, which was made around the end of 19 century (about 120-130 years ago).  This was made of natural wood.
    This kind of clappers is called 'Hyoshigi' or 'Ki' in Japanese that is used to beat time.  In case of Kabuki, it is used as a kind of instruments.
