Item Description :
This is a vintage Japanese Mizusashi (or fresh water container) of Shino ware, which is used for tea ceremonies.
This Mizusashi was
made by the 1st class potter, the 2nd Jyotetsu Yamaguchi (Tetsuzan Matsumoto, 1955-)
about 30 years ago.
The seal of the potter is stamped on the bottom.  The original wooden box with the signature of the potter is also included.
Mizusashi is also good to use as a Food container, such as to hold pickles.
Mizusashi or fresh water container is one of essential items for tea ceremonies. Mizusashi is used to hold fresh water to clean the chasen (bamboo whisk)
after it has been used to make tea, and to replenish the iron kettle so it will always be full.
