Vtg Pair of Viscoloid Swans with Metal Feet celluloid toy geese.
This amazing pair of swans are part of my grandfather's estate.  They were manufactured by Viscoloid and are high quality celluloid animals with heavy metal feet. They stand easily and have beautiful detail in the feathers. Really nicely made.
These were part of my grandfather's train garden display. I'm not sure of their exact age, but suspect they date from either the late 1920's or the early 1930's.  His trains dated to just before 1920, but the garden expanded each year. They are in very nice, vintage condition. A few specks here and there (please enlarge to see detail). The swans are sort of an antique white color, not a bright white. i did not attempt to clean them.  Pic #7 is the best depiction, i think, of their color (it's taken in sunlight). They are being sold as is.
They stand about 5 1/2 inches tall and are marked with the manufacturer's symbol (visible in pic 7, just below the "feather line".  The feet are heavy metal and painted red (some paint loss).  There is a pinhole on one of the birds near the tail feathers (see pic 8 and zoom).  Does not detract from the overall look of the pair. They're just beautifully made.
