    Description

    Set of five vintage 20th C. lacquer wood plates from Japan
    3 are Maki-e with beautiful hand-painted raised designs in gold on red ground.
    2 are handprinted on gold lacquer ground.
    Tiny chip under rim of one red plate exposes a bit of the wood and the layers of colors: first black lacquer, then red, then the gold is applied on top.
    Marked "Made in Japan"
    6.5" diameter
