    Description

    RARE Belgian Original Re-Release (RR40's) Poster -
The Sign Of The Cross (1932)
    , Fredric March
    ,
Claudette Colbert, Charles Laughton, Elissa Landi, Stanley Ridges, Wilson Barrett, Cecil B. DeMille, Historical Epic, Ancient Rome, Nero, WWII Re-edit
Here is an original Belgian movie poster from the 1944 re-release version of the big budget Cecil B. DeMille production of
    The Sign Of The Cross
. This was the final part of DeMille's biblical trilogy which included
    The Ten Commandments
    and
    The King Of Kings
. Based on the stage play by Wilson Barrett, this movie starred Fredric March and Claudette Colbert in a tale set in ancient Rome during the reign of Emperor Nero (Laughton). This poster is from the 1st rerelease of the film in Belgium soon after the end of the war in Europe (probably 1947). It is billed as the "Modern Version" since it was re-edited under DeMille's supervision to include a prologue involving fighter pilots during WWII (hence the planes in cross formation). It features striking artwork that is unique to this Belgian re-release poster.
