Here is a rare original Belgian stock movie poster for a film starring singing cowboy star Roy Rogers. The featured film is
Song Of Nevada
. These type of stock posters were used by theater managers to promote a film featuring a popular star of the time. A generic image of the lead actor/actress would be prominently displayed on the poster with a blank area used to write or print in the film title. In this instance, Roy Rogers was a very popular star of the Western genre and a few examples of stock posters have surfaced over the years. This particular poster is the only example I have ever seen over the past 25 years. It probably dates from the late Forties of early Fifties and is mounted on linen. Despite a few condition issues, this poster presents beautifully and would be a very rare and welcome addition to your Western/Cowboy hero movie poster collection.

COUNTRY OF ORIGIN/SIZE: Belgium  15.5" x 24"; 16.76" x 24.5" (on linen)
CONDITION:
Good to Very Good Untrimmed Condition On Linen. Prior to being backed on linen, the poster was folded and theater exhibition information was written in the top white border with ink marker or crayon. There were also some tears, creases and small areas of paper loss in the surrounding borders. More writing was added to the title circle. A tax stamp is affixed in the lower right corner.   Artwork is vivid and completely intact. This poster has been stored flat for the past 12 years and will be shipped rolled in a sturdy tube or box.
