Nixie Thermometer Kit - NT2RA PCB & Parts - No Tubes.
Nixie Thermometer kit. This circuit includes the PCB (Printed Circuit Board) and all parts to be stuffed and soldered into it (assembled by you), less the two nixie tubes. The board is layed out to accept Russian two IN-14 nixie tubes, to be purchased separately. I do not stock any nixie tubes.
This kit, in addition to using nixie tubes, also uses period correct circuitry. That is, it uses logic chips and op amps, instead of a modern microcontroller. As such, adding any features are difficult, because it then needs extra circuitry. With modern microcontrollers, its all just more code.
The "random" numbers you see, are NOT random, but the actual primary function, of counting up, to the valid level. This is how many old instruments, in the 60's, actually worked.It uses a dual slope analog to digital converter, where the digital output is the time of the discharge slope. Its just been calibrated to show it as degrees, instead of seconds. It was simple an elegant method, in the days when a computer was the size of a room. Nowadays, too many circuits use microcontrollers (small computers that cost pennies). Efficient, but they lack "character".

Nixie tubes are to be acquired separately, by the buyer. There are many sources available, both on eBay, and elsewhere online. The board is layed out for IN-14s, but the IN-8-2 & XN-11 can also be fitted, as shown at the instruction page.
Board measures 4.25in x 2.5in (108 x 63mm).

Note: A version of this kit was made for the ZM1000 nixie, which also came with those (ZM1000) nixie tubes in that kit (NT2ZA). I have exhausted my supply of ZM1000 nixies, so that version of the kit has been discontinued.  Any Questions ? There is the eBay messaging system. Feel free to use it.

International shipments will only have their "Customs Declaration" number listed, unless the foreign buyer chooses "Registered Mail". With "Registered Mail", the package can be tracked. "Registered Mail", will incur and additional .00 US to the total cost. If you want this option please contact me and wait to be invoiced. If you just pay for it (without being invoiced), the item will be shipped without tracking. eBay only required that I (the seller) prove that I shipped it. A "Customs Declaration" will satisfy that requirement. Its your nickel. From NOW ON, if its lost and you DID NOT pay for registered mail, then THAT'S IT !
There has been a history of delayed packages to some European Union countries. Actually, only Germany. Parcels to Germany will now have a "Packing List Envelope" adhered to the outside, to appease German Customs. If you are in Germany, your package can be held up in Customs for up to 6 weeks !
