Here is a rare original Belgian movie poster from the first post-war rerelease of David O. Selznick's production of
Little Lord Fauntleroy
. This was the first film Selznick produced after leaving MGM and it turned quite a profit. Based on the classic 1886 novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett, the movie starred Freddie Bartholomew and Dolores Costello as a young boy and his widowed mother from Brooklyn who suddenly must adjust to living among the British aristocracy. This poster is from the first re-release of the film in Belgium shortly after the end of the war in Europe (probably 1946)
. It is printed on the back of a war era ordnance map (dated 1944) in the smaller immediate post-war format in order to conserve paper. It features beautiful artwork unique to this Belgian release poster. I have never seen another example of this poster come up for sale or auction so, I believe, it is quite rare. It is in very good condition for its age with vivid colors and no other visible defects

CONDITION:
Very Good Untrimmed Folded Condition. Untrimmed top white border has remnants of a former theater exhibition snipe. Printed on the back of a portion of an ordnance map from 1944. Artwork is vivid and completely intact. Folded as originally issued, this poster has been stored flat for the past 23 years and will be shipped rolled in a sturdy tube or box.
