    Description

    Listed for your consideration is a mid-century Japanese decorative miniature figurine. It dates to the late 1940s or 1950s and was a desireable import from post-war Japan.  It depicts a dragon ship, or boat, carrying the 7 Lucky Gods.  Very nice detail.
    In Japanese mythology, the Seven Lucky Gods, or Seven Gods of Fortune
    (
    七福神
    , shichifukujin in
    Japanese
    )
    are believed to grant good luck.  They have been honored since ancient times in Japan.
    The item measures approximately 4-3/4 inches (120mm) long x 1-1/4 (30mm) inches wide x 2-3/4 70mm) inches high.  It comes nestled in its' original box, but lacks the box lid.  It identified the set as C6319 E.
    Excellent condition BUT LACKS THE SAIL that originally came with this figurine, which is unfortunate, but would cost much more if it had the sail, so therefore a bargain! No cracks or disintegration to the celluloid.  Purchased decades ago In NYC by my father.  Never displayed.  No wear.  Non-smoking.  No odors. Will be packed with care.
    Displays nicely. This is highly collectible not only as a vintage, Japanese-made celluloid toy, but as mid-century imported home decor, produced in Japan.  They were an inexpensive imitation of Netsuke, which not everyone could afford.  These were delicate, but affordable to the common man, and not many of them survived the years in such great a shape.
