DESCRIPTION
This is a Sigaraki ware jar from the Momoyama period.
The black line on the surface is not a repair.
There are no repair marks or adhesive residue on either the front or back.
The black charcoal-like natural substance was adhered to the surface.
There are no cracks on the back or front side.
Shigaraki has white feldspar grains floating on the surface.
There are holes and shallow short linear grooves where the feldspar has dissolved.
There are no cracks or breaks on the reverse side or front side.
