Description
This is a unique Japanesekiseru
from the early Meiji Era (c. 1870)
.
This
kiseru
is made of two separate bronze ends with a central section of aged bamboo. Both the mouth piece has a silver tip (see pictures 9 - 14) . The center is of a special bamoo. It has an aged patina from over a century of loving use.
This 120 year old antique
kiseru
measures 8 1/2" (21 cm). A truly unique vintage
kiseru
. It has been well used yet well loved and, along with its warm aged patina it remains in
good (functional) condition
. Has good draw.
The last 2 pictures (not included) show wood block prints from the early 1800's of a geisha holding a kiseru similar to this one.
