    Description

    For your consideration, a gorgeous antique carved wood and gilt lacquer lotus tray, likely for tea, circa late Meiji period Japan. A considerable amount of work went into this tray, it is completely hand carved down to the seeds in the pods which move within the pods. Regarding condition, the tray has a joined repaired crack at the upper left corner, minimal hairline cracks at top center between the two small upper sections, and a long hairline crack in the large lower portion. Some mild surface scratching is also noted in photos. Someone has added a hanging wire to the back.
    Measures 28 7/8 inches in length, 20 5/8 inches in width, and 1.5 inches in height.
