DeForest Wireless! DeForest VT-21 Variant Made For Signal Corps Display Only

Here you are bidding on a DeForest VT-21 Vacuum Tube made for the Signal Corps at the beginning of WWI.  It is for display only and has a modest chip to the vacuum tip.
This example is one of several variants made.  Although the envelope is a little different, the robust internal construction is the same as the one shown in Tyne's "Saga.." Figure 7-14, tube on the left in the photograph.  The press is marked "2318" with the numbers inverted with the base down.  Similarly inverted, the glass envelope is marked "DEFOREST-TYPE VT-21" enclosed in a box opposite side of the press markings.  I could not get a photograph to represent this , but rest assured, you can still make it out on the glass!!  This is a rare find indeed!
