THE ITEM DESCRIPTION:
This is the rarest of the Occupied Japan Walt Disney Mickey Mouse toys. It is a celluloid Mickey riding on a celluloid Pluto with the wind-up mechanism concealed inside the eccentric front wheel. It is 6” long & 5 1/2” to top of Mickey's head. The wind-up is working & it has an attached key. The axle is offset which causes the wheel to turn in an eccentric fashion with the result that Pluto moves up & down simulating a dog running. Thus the toy name on the box: Running Mickey On Pluto. Of course the name should be Mickey Riding On Running Pluto. Pluto is marked Made in Occupied Japan & so is Mickey. Mickey is also marked with a copyright W.D.P. Condition of the toy is like new in the original box. The figures have excellent color. There are no chips, cracks, dents or repairs to the celluloid. The painted wheel has some minor edge wear from rolling across a table top. The box is very fine condition. Cardboard is square, the label is complete, bright & clean. The lower right corner of the lid has a tear which is clearly visible in photos. 1 side skirt of the top lid has a tear. 1 side panel of the box bottom has some numbers & letters in pencil which don't appear to be relevant to anything. The box is marked Made in Occupied Japan with a MT Trade Mark Tokyo. MT stands for Modern Toys which were produced by Masudaya, probably the oldest
continuously
operating toy companies in the world - over 300 years old! There is also a Walt Disney Prod. Copyright on the lid. This would be a great addition to any advanced collection of Disney celluloid.
