A stunning artist signed incense burner or censer used in Kodo ceremonies, one of the three classical Japanese arts of refinement
Smoothly finished patinated bronze body with a very unique organic shape resembling a gourd or some fruit
Decorated with applied very detailed male figurine, dressed in traditional outfit, a three-dimensional relief that contrasts with the smooth, round surface of the body
He is depicted painting with a brush and is so well elaborated that you can sense the motion
On the other side there is an array of Japanese calligraphy characters and artist's signature in a rectangle
The removable top is pierced in a wavy pattern
