Description
This is a sugi wood chair or stool of the type used by samurai or generals to sit and observe the battlefield. Likely from the late Meiji era. One of the few types of chairs used in traditional Japan. Can be used as a very handy and storied step stool or stand.The chair measures 32.5" tall x 26" wide x 22" deep and the seat is at 17" (82.5 x 66 x 56 x 43 cm). As it is it remains in
good antique
condition
with some discoloration to the finish on the seat and missing pupils from the eyes of the left dragon.
