DESCRIPTION
Antique Japanese letter opener made from brass. Late Meiji period in date (1868 -1912) this beautifully simple letter opener was crafted with great skill and detail. It is completely plain apart from the exceptional three dimensional serpent which is wrapped around the base to act as the handle and give grip to the letter opener.
The serpent is a guardian creature that protect coveted riches and treasures. The snake can also symbolize rebirth, transformation, and the continual renewal of life within Japanese culture. This would make a fabulous birthday gift, housewarming gift holiday gift or for any Japanese metal enthusiasts.

MEASUREMENTS
Letter opener measures 10" long by 1.25" wide and weighs 4oz.
CONDITION
In good condition considering age and use with some discoloration on the back of the handle- (please see all pictures as they form part of the description).

Pick Up Only Items must be collected within 14 days of purchase.
