    Description

    This auction is for an ANTIQUE JAPAN Mt. FUJI, HAND CARVED, 4" DIAMETER WOODEN COASTER.  This was found in an old upstate NY farmhouse, in a dome top trunk.  The trunk had been stored since the 1920's, and everything in the trunk dated from the 1880's to the 1920's.  The family that owned the farm were supporters of Christian missionaries throughout the world, so it is very likely this was made in Japan for the tourist industry around 1900.
    The coaster is made of wood and is hand carved.  The inside and outside edge is delicately carved with a fine pattern.  The coaster measures 4" diameter.  There is a small crack in the edge, at about the 12:30 position >> see last photo.
