50A1 Solid State Replacement Zenith Trans Oceanic

Description

Offered here is a  replacement for the 50A1 ballast tube; simply plug it into your Transoceanic's 50A1 tube socket.    It uses the latest high-voltage linear regulator IC to produce a constant 53 mA of heater current for the tubes in your TO.  I have run one of these in my Transoceanic for many hours with excellent results.  Regulation is tighter that the 50A1 tube and the device should have a virtually unlimited life.  Many of these 50A1 replacements have been sold with many satisfied customers.  Check my feedback.

Note: many radios like the Zenith Transoceanics use direct connections from  B- to the AC mains, so an isolation transformer should always be used for safety when working on these radios.
Warning.  The heatsink and IC tab operate at an elevated voltages.  Please do not use if not enclosed in a protective case or other means are provided to prevent possible electrical shock.
Also, certain non-Zenith radios, like the
RCA 7-BX-10 Strato World may have reversed polarity connections on their 50A1 sockets.   Thus, the 50A1 will not work without modification.
