This car has never seen rain. This car has never been parked in direct sunlight. This car never spent a day outside its' climate controlled garage. The original owner was so fanatical about this car that it shows like a 5,000 mile car, and drives like one too.
If you've been looking for that "perfect" 560SEL to drive and enjoy, this particular car checks every single box. Black pearl exterior that is 100% original paint and is as close to perfect as you can get for being 35 years old. No dents, dings, appreciable scratch, sun fading, etc. The chrome on the car is PERFECT. There is not one water spot baked into the chrome of this car, not one ding. It's flawless...and on a SEL, there sure is a lot of it.
The interior of this SEL oddly appears to have never been sat in, it has no wear on anything. The carpets are perfect, the seats are perfect, door cards, headliner...everything is just showroom new.
A peak under the hood of this car shows excellent. Cosmoline still present, Cad plating bright on all the cad plated parts. It's just leak free and you can eat off the top or bottom of this car.
All the glass is original to the car with the "Daimler-Benz" sticker present on the windshield. Obviously it's all original body panels with VIN stickers on both bumpers, doors, hood, decklid.
The maintenance on this car is nothing but first class. Absolutely everything works and this SEL needs absolutely nothing.
I purchased this car from a Estate and it wasn't being utilized much as the original owner had passed away. I serviced everything on the car, radiator, brakes, trans, rear differential, new Michelin tires with maybe 300 miles on them. I also replaced the timing chain guides and rails on the car. These engines will run forever, with one caveat...the timing chain guides and rails are plastic, and after 35 years...they become brittle and break. It does not matter, I've seen them break on 5,000 mile trailer queens, I've seen them break on 200K cars. It's not a question of "if" but a question of "when". This is a ,000 maintenance repair that every 560SL, SEL, SEC....NEEDS! It's done on this car. A/C has been converted to R134A.
I have every bit of original paperwork and service records! From the window sticker to the original hang tags, all 3 original keys. This car is in a league all it's own.
Sure, you can buy a SEL for less money...but as they say...."You get what you pay for..."
