Up for sale for the very first time, is this beautiful and all original 1971 240-Z  Series-1. Numbers Matching with only 15K original miles! This car has been sitting in a backyard since 1987 in Southern California. The car has original California blue License plates with the sticker tab showing that it was last registered in 1987! Let’s start talking about the vehicle condition. The car has had only one owner its entire life!The original owner drove the car for a little while had a bit of fun with it and then parked it in his backyard and never touched it for 34 years!
I was amazed to see the car in such original condition. The seller said. “I never thought the day would come that I would consider selling  my Z.” He kept telling himself that one day he’ll fix it up but he said “I’ll
probably never get to it and I do not want to see the car sit anymore”. He wants to give it to someone who will enjoy it. After our conversation, we had an agreement to list this beautiful Z. The gentleman ensured me that the miles are in fact original he only drove the car only for special occasions up until 1987.
The engine numbers match the Vin plate on the strut tower. This is proof that this is in fact and true an original matching numbers engine. You can see the attached photos of the matching numbers.
This car is 100% original. “The car has never been in any accidents, the car received a scratch on the fender and door when pulling it out of the garage one day. Those were the only 2 panels that were repainted”. Like myself, being a car guy practically all my life, my experience tells me that what he says is true.
The Datsun has no rust issues other than One spot visible
when opening up the rear hatch on the bottom of the jamb. The floorboards are completely solid, the undercarriage is all original and has never been under-coated. The bottom of the doors are completely solid.
Before listing, the Datsun was towed to a reputable mechanic. I had the tank removed and and cleaned. I had all the fuel lines cleaned, the carburetors pulled off sent out to a specialist in rebuilding Z carburetors. I have receipts of over 0.00 to get the original carbs working like they did when they were off the showroom floor. I had installed a new fuel pump, new spark plugs, new wires, cap, and rotor, a battery, fresh gas, prior to the first start up. Once ready, for the first time in a long time, the ignition key was inserted and turned. The Z fired right up! The engine sounds terrific, no knocking, no funny noise, no oil leaks, no smoking. The original engine in the car is in great running condition. Also installed is a brand new set of tires, brand new brake master cylinder and a brake service done so the car runs, drives, brakes, and steers. The clutch DOES slip. The car will need some work to be completely roadworthy. Other than that the running condition is absolutely amazing.
I have the car registered with current up to date California tags. I have a clean and clear California title in my name. Believe me when I say, there are no let downs or surprises with this one.
