It's always nice to come across a solid, well-dressed classic Cutlass. Introduced in the early '60s, they rapidly became sought after muscle cars, combining performance-centric drivetrains with sporty styling and generous interior space to accommodate back seat passengers in comfort. This dialed-in 1968 Oldsmobile Cutlass S is a fine example of the model in its vintage heyday. Featuring it's numbers-matching Rocket 350 V8 under the hood, a gorgeous red-over-white color combination, and a host of choice options, this recently frame-off restored (only 4,759 miles on the build) Cutty is a winner in every way.
The bright Red paint this Olds now wears (it was originally Code G Willow Gold) provides a very nice, updated look on the classic, first-year run 3rd generation Cutty. With a comprehensive, frame-off restoration completed in 2007 (and the refreshed again in 2017), the professionals at Run Rite Classic Restorations in Michigan built this Oldsmobile to win awards, and that's exactly what it accomplished when it won 1st Place 'Best in Show' at the November 2021 Burnout Cancer Car Show. With that being said, it's more of a higher-end driver than a show car these days, which is perfectly fine because this muscle car was built to run. The red finish is shiny, smooth as can be, and very uniform throughout, with a depth of clarity that makes this classic come alive when exposed to the sun. Those black stripes running the length of the hood add just the right late-'60s styling sensibility, while the black vinyl top makes this muscle car look more like a pedigreed grown-up than a juvenile street brawler. From every angle, this Cutlass S has a road-ready appearance - the front and rear chrome bumpers are straight and unblemished, the array of chrome and stainless trim is all intact and presents well, and the glass on all sides of the cabin is nice and clear, with the front and rear windshields surrounded by solid rubber seals. Oldsmobile took its venerable muscle car through a thorough restyling when the '68 debuted, giving the car a more refined overall appearance with a semi-fastback rear roofline and equipping the front split grille - nearly a trademark for the model at the time - with more aggressive vertical bars on each side. Size-wise, the Cutlass S strikes a great balance - it's trim enough to present an agile appearance and yet features a generously sized wheelbase for a smooth ride and plenty of room inside.
The restored Pearl White vinyl interior sports its original configuration and offers a nice classic driving environment including upgraded cold R134a A/C. Bench seats fore and aft are in great shape, with clean, comfortable covers with nary a rip or tear to be found, matching door panels at the flanks look fresh, while the plush black carpets that line the floors do a great job insulating the cabin from the outside elements. Cutlasses of this era sported well-appointed, stylish dash areas, as the one here ably illustrates with its array of brightwork accents that sit underneath a straight, uncracked dash pad that's further protected with a carpeted cover. The original gauges ahead of the driver are easily readable, and they've been augmented by a full set of auxiliary units in tow, all the car's control knobs sit securely in place, and the original AM radio is remarkably still in place too. Aftermarket 3-point seatbelts were installed up front to go with the lap belts in the rear, black Oldsmobile floor mats protect the carpets, and a virtually unblemished 3-spoke steering wheel anchors the cockpit up front. The trunk area is every bit as spacious as you'd expect and it's in great order, with a full-size matching spare and jack set sitting inside and spatter paint and sound deadening material lining the clean floors.
Underneath the hood, the original numbers-matching Rocket 350 V8 is still on hand and it continues to perform well, firing up quickly when called upon and running strong. It's now equipped with a remanufactured Rochester 2-barrel carb atop an original iron intake manifold, features original #5 high-flow heads and aftermarket Hedman ceramic-coated headers, and the high-nickel content original block teams with the original 2-speed "Jetaway" automatic transmission that spins the stock O-type rear end filled with 2.78 gears inside. This Cutty also features both power steering and power brakes with converted discs up front, so it navigates easily and comes to dependable, low-effort stops, as it rolls on a set of 14" stock, color-matched Oldsmobile Rally wheels with fresh centers that are wrapped in 245/60/14 BFGoodrich T/A white-letter radials at all four corners.
This 1968 Oldsmobile Cutlass S is loaded with plenty of muscle car goodness, and thanks to a thorough frame-off restoration and a recent freshening, it's ready for the road right now. Call today!

We recognize the need for complete transparency when buying/selling vehicles on eBay. That said, we did not build, modify, or have the luxury of personal ownership that would give us the advantage of knowing all unknown aspects of each vehicle. Transparency is king and we're happy to try and answer ALL questions our customers might have prior to purchasing. Additionally, we welcome and encourage independent inspections (see Inspection statement below).

DRIVE IT HOME
: If you plan to buy and drive home, please keep some things in mind. Anything is possible when it comes to a vehicle, especially a classic or antique one. We recommend transporting all vehicles to your home first, then driving it locally. Get to know the vehicle and its tendencies before embarking on a long-distance trip.
