Recently Found In Central California!! This “Side Yard” Find was Recently Discovered In Petaluma, California. The 1948 Divco Helms #87 Twin Coach was Taking a Long Deserved Slumber After It’s Helms Service Duty, and Beyond. She Has Tell -Tale Signs of a Life After Helms Bakery, and We’re Sure If She Could Speak, Have a Whole Lot More to Reveal as Well!! She Clocked the Endless Miles on, and Delivered Daily the Fresh Warm Bread, the Endless Sweet Treats of Filled Cream Puffs, Delicious Chocolate, Lemon and Raspberry Filled Donuts, Fruit Cakes During the Holiday Seasons, Chocolate Chip Cookies, and Those Mouth Watering Applesauce Cakes That My Mother Still Speaks of.
Somewhere in the 1970s, She Worked In the Florist District In San Francisco. Her California Highway Patrol Inspection From June of 1975, and San Francisco Flower Terminal Parking Permit Decals Clearly Points to a Second Career After Her Helms Bakery Delivery Service. In 1986, She was Parked In a Side Yard Yard In Petaluma, California, and Finally Retired. After a 34 Year “Nap”, She Was “Rediscovered”, and Purchased In the Summer of 2020.
As You Can See, She Looks a Bit Tired, (Maybe Real Tired), From Her Former Glory Days of Serving Post World War II Southern California. After Several Careers Over a 74 Year Period, She Has Flaws!! A Hand Brushed Coat Of Green Paint Over Her Original Yellow and Blue Paint Scheme, Missing Oak Pastry Cabinets, Missing Rear View Mirrors, Missing Whistle Assembly, Missing Back Bumper, Dings and Dents Throughout the Aluminum Hand Formed Body, Broken Glass, Broken Rusted Out Headlights, and a Few Rust Issues In the Steel Parts of the Body That Need Welding Skills.
Along the Way, Her Divco Continental Flathead 4 Cylinder Engine was Swapped Out for a Later Model Buick “Nailhead” V8 Engine, and the Original 6 Lug Rear End was Swapped Out For a Heavier Duty 8 Lug Unit Over the Original 6 Lug Rear End. We Have Since Sourced and Purchased an Original 6 Lug Rear End to Match the Front End, an Extra Steering Column Assembly, and Have a Total of 6- 6 Lug Wheels for the Coach. An Extra Set of Headlight Assemblies, Factory Manuals, a Radiator Grille, and Misc Parts are Also Included With This Rare Aluminum Bodied Coach.
