Garrett Classics is proud to present this very nice 1947 Lincoln. The Continental Coupe was one of 5 models produced in 1947. There were 19,891 total Lincolns that year and only 348 of them were Convertible Coupes. The Convertible Coupe differs from the Continental Cabriolet in that it does not have the flat trunk with the Continental kit. This fine example has an interesting history. We can talk about that if you are really interested in the car, but for now let's get to the basic information.
The current owner of the Lincoln heard of the car in a back room of an auto parts store in Marshall, TX. He acquired the car in 1999. He hired an expert on these old Lincolns and the car was sent to him in Dearborn, MI to begin it's long restoration. The new owner had begun collecting NOS parts for the car, and Mr. Owen the restorer, began working on it in approximately 2004 and completed it except for a few cosmetic items just before he passed away in 2015 at the age of 87.
During restoration, the following items were addressed:
1-Engine and transmission were rebuilt, using a new V12 block
2-New correct convertible top
3-Rebuilt hydraulic system-pump, and all cylinders
4-New full leather interior and carpeting
5-New wiring harness
6-New correct tires
7-Overdrive gear option
We show some of the restoration photos that are just copies of printed photos.
The car is a positive ground car and has a complete wiring diagram that is laminated and comes with the car as well as service manuals and documents. The seller has more restoration photos.
There is also a photo copy of the original build sheet from the research center of the Henry Ford Museum.
At this time everything is working on the car. The car runs and drives very well and does not overheat. In the video you will see the temp gauge that was added under dash and it was maintaining 180 degrees while we shot the video.
This rare car is a pleasure to drive and the interior is absolutely stunning with its leather seats and new carpet. It is a must see.
Again, please feel free to call Maris at 214-616-2317 with questions. WE have several more photos as well. We are limited to the number of photos we can post, so if you are really interested I can send you the entire album.
I would be happy to assist with financing and shipping as well.
