    KO AKAE-ZARA HYAKUSEN ZENPEN KAISETSU. A REVIEW OF KO-AKAE PORCELAIN DISHWARE, by Seiichi Okuda.
    Published in Japan, Showa 8 (1933). TEXT ENTIRELY IN JAPANESE.
    FOLIO SIZE WOODEN CLAMSHELL BOX COVERED with SILK CLOTH with a printed design on the top and a paper title label, bone clasps. The lovely box measures 12.5x15.5 inches.
    INSIDE are 5O FOLIO SIZE COLOR PLATES, 11x14 inches, each printed on its own leaf, all plates loose as issues, all edges gilt. There are two introductory plates, one with a title, one with a brief details of each of the 50 color plates. The plates depict various pieces of Ko-Akae Dishware Porcelain. All the prints are gorgeous, each suitable for framing. The 50 plates are supported by a stiff card backing with straps on two of its sides that allow all the plates to be lifted safely from the wooden box.
    Laid on top of the plates is ribbon bound book/catalog that describes in detail all the plates. The catalog has patterned rice paper covers, is 10x14 inches, and has 25 numbered pages. Text in Japanese.
    Okuda was the author of various books on Japanese ceramics, including Masterpieces of Pottery and Porcelain in Japan, issued between 1926 and 1930.
